Chinese crowd hold bedsheet to catch baby thrown out of burning flat by mother
A group of people caught a 1-month-old baby after he was thrown out of a burning third-floor flat by his mother in eastern China.
Heroic video filmed in Wenzhou City in Zhejiang Province on July 5, shows a mother throwing her child out of a third-floor window and a group of people holding a bedsheet under the building catching the infant.
As the flames engulfed a residential building, a mother from the fourth floor initially tossed a bedsheet to the assembled crowd below, before bravely entrusting her baby to their catch.
Upon examination by professional medical personnel, the baby was found to be in excellent health.
Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire had originated on the first floor of the residential building, with smoke spreading upwards through the stairwell.
The team leader immediately directed an internal firefighting operation, with an aerial ladder truck aiding to rescue people and extinguish the flames.
After a tense 7-minute rescue operation, the firefighters were able to put out the fire completely and confirmed that there were no casualties.
The cause of the fire is currently under further investigation.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
