At least 16 people died after a landslide hit the village of Irshalwadi in the western Indian state of Maharashtra on July 20. Around 109 people are believed to be still trapped under the debris.

The footage, which was provided by an officer working for the country's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), shows rescuers digging through mud in search of survivors. The video also features images of a trained dog deployed at the site of the incident.

Rescue operations are currently underway. Both India's National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been deployed. Trekking groups and local NGOs have also joined the operations.

The landslide-hit village is situated on a hill slope making it difficult to use heavy machines.

NDRF's inspector Mahesh Sindha said: "We are conducting three types of searches, including dog and physical ones. It is challenging but we are trained for it".
