Russia has said its multi-purpose attack helicopters provided support to the Russian motorized rifle units by firing missiles at the Ukrainian military positions on the battlefield.

In the footage, the helicopters can be seen flying at extremely low altitudes and releasing flares to divert surface-to-air missiles from Ukrainian air defense after missile fire.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defense on Thursday, September 1, along with a statement claiming: 'Crews of ZVO multi-purpose attack helicopters provide fire support to motorized rifle units during SMO (Special Military Operation).'

During the special military operation, the helicopter crews of the army aviation of the Western Military District continue to carry out the tasks of destroying armored vehicles and military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, escorting military columns, delivering troops, military cargo, air support for units. All flights take place at extremely low altitude.

Requests for support from Russian motorized riflemen or tankers from the front line come several times during the day or night shift.
