"We were driving in the Lower Sabie Rest Camp area towards Nkuhlu Picnic spot. When we saw this Lioness we turned around and were facing back to Lower Sabie, following her.
We followed her for about 5km with no other cars in sight. She turned to a bush to mark it and saw the dung in the road.
All her attention was suddenly focused on the dung/feces/poop heap.
She rolled her face into it covering both sides and even licked and tasted it. This was extremely strange lion behaviour to us.
Rangers later explained lions do this to mask their scent from other animals and even other lions.
Thus getting closer to the prey etc. Getting it on film is extremely rare !
One of our Best Kruger Sightings ever !" - Corrie Rademeyer
