This is the amusing moment a family pitched up a table and chairs to drink beer in a surging flash flood in Thailand.

Heavy rain had hit the neighbourhood, spawning a rushing torrent in front of the family's house in Udon Thani province on September 16.

But instead of panicking, the locals made the most out of the deluge, which they used as a makeshift pool in which to dip their feet and relax.

Hilarious video shows the residents perched on high stools and enjoying glasses of chilled beer as the flood surged through the street.

Local officials making patrols in the area came across the amusing sight and expressed their approval with a thumbs up.
