Cape Town crowds ring in the New Year with Cape Malay Choirs
Cape Town, South Africa - 31 December 2023: Thousands of people lined the streets of Cape Town’s CBD to watch the Cape Malay marching bands walk from the Cape Town City Hall to the historic Bo Kaap neighbourhood. The tradition of the Malay marching bands is rooted in the City’s colonial history. Hundreds of people line the streets from Boxing Day in order to secure their spots to view the Cape Minstrels or Kaapse Klopse do their annual parade on 2 January.
