China raced against time for landslide disaster relief in Yunnan Province.

A landslide hit Liangshui Village on Monday morning, tragically burying 44 people from 18 households.

As of 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, 31 people were found dead.

More than 1,000 rescuers, over 150 machines and 45 dogs have joined the search and rescue operations.

A total of 918 residents from 223 households have been evacuated to safe places.

Lei Huachang, a local villager said: "We received water, rice cakes, and instant noodles. That gave us so much help. We have proper food and shelter to keep warm."
