Footage shows Russian artillery units targeting Ukrainian positions using self-propelled mortars.

Russia's Ministry of Defense (MOD) stated that their artillery units of the 'Vostok' military group used 240-milimetre self-propelled 'Tulpan' mortars to strike Ukrainian troops in the area of Donetsk, Ukraine, on January 22.

The MOD said in a statement: 'Designed for the destruction of fortified structures, buildings, enemy troop concentrations, and armored vehicles, the 2S4 'Tulpan' mortar operates in close coordination with UAV teams, other detection means, and target designation systems.

'Its preparation, aiming, and firing are performed automatically, taking no more than three minutes. Depending on the ammunition used, the mortar can engage targets up to a distance of 20 kilometres [12 miles].'
