Massive pile-up involving 100 vehicles on Chinese highway due to icy conditions
A massive pile-up involving around 100 vehicles occurred on a highway due to the icy conditions in eastern China.
The video was filmed in Suzhou City in Jiangsu Province on February 23.
The chaos ensued due to treacherous icy conditions blanketing the road. Preliminary reports indicate three individuals sustained injuries, receiving prompt medical attention, while six others suffered minor scrapes and bruises, fortunately escaping serious harm.
At present, authorities including traffic police and firefighters are diligently managing the aftermath on-site, with the incident still under investigation and resolution.
This catastrophic event unfolded following the issuance of a yellow warning for the icy roads by the Suzhou Meteorological Observatory at 18:13 on February 22nd, cautioning residents about the imminent risk of road icing.
The advisory highlighted the adverse impact of precipitation and plummeting temperatures on elevated roads, bridges, and other crucial transit routes, exacerbating travel conditions and precipitating the unfortunate chain of accidents.
