Heavy snowfall triggered a deadly 40-vehicle crash on a highway, killing one person in China.

The aftermath video was filmed in Xinzhou City in Shanxi province on Shanxi Province on December 10. Dozens of vehicles were entangled in a collision, causing significant traffic jams. Amidst the twisted metal and shattered glass, numerous people were seen frantically making phone calls by the roadside.

On the evening of December 10th, a severe snowstorm wreaked havoc on the Erenhot–Guangzhou Expressway, leading to a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up.

A swift response from local authorities and emergency services was mobilised. On December 11th, Xinzhou's transportation department reported that the incident comprised 29 rear-end collisions, involving around 40 vehicles.

Preliminary investigations confirmed the tragic toll of one fatality and six injuries. Adding to the peril, a diesel tanker involved in the crash suffered minor leakage, prompting fire services to engage in urgent containment measures.
