Police officers rushed to the rescue of two youths who had descended down a canal while taking bath after playing Holi (HIndu festival) in northern India's Rajasthan.

This incident took place near Borkheda police station in Kota on March 25.

Visuals showed the police officers rescuing the youths after they had gone down the canal. They probably didn't realise that the idea to go down the canal and have a splash while playing Holi was a bad idea but the cops managed to act in time and promptly to prevent what could have been a tragedy. One of the cops was seen getting down the edge of the bridge and holding out a rope to pull out the youths. Locals too joined in and helped the police in this rescue operation. One by one, both these young men were brought out of the canal.

Speaking to Newslions, Superintendent of Police, District Kota City, Amrita Duhan IPS, highlighted extensive police arrangements made to maintain law and order during the Holi festival. Following the Dhulandi celebrations, a significant number of individuals, including men, women, and children, flock to the canals for bathing, posing a risk of accidents due to careless behavior. To mitigate such risks and prevent loss of life based on past incidents, police personnel were deployed to monitor the major canals and distributaries around Kota city, including Borkheda police station, under the leadership of Ram Laxman P.N., the station officer. In addition to mobile and Chetak patrol teams, motorcycle patrol teams were instructed to actively monitor the canals and discourage bathing.

Notably, CAT 17 and Chetak 17 teams continuously monitored the main canal in the Borkheda Police Station area, with police personnel from Chowki Bajrang Nagar patrolling the canal banks from Steel Bridge to 80 feet Likan Road and back to the Steel Bridge. Upon receiving information about two youths in distress while bathing near CCH, all patrol teams promptly responded and rescued them from the canal. Both youths, identified as Sonu Yogi and another individual unable to provide their name due to nervousness, aged approximately 25 to 30 years, were safely rescued with the help of a rope, preventing a potential tragedy.
