A kind-hearted supermarket owner aided a woman having an emergency birth in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Huizhou City in Guangdong Province on March 31.

As a pregnant woman, on the brink of labour, passed by a supermarket, she felt the urgent onset of contractions and immediately sought help. In a panic, her husband dialled the emergency number, but before assistance could arrive, the baby made its unexpected entrance into the world right there on the sidewalk.

Mr. Wu, the supermarket owner, rushed to the scene to assess the situation. Recognising the urgency and the need for immediate action, he provided a cardboard box for the woman to lie on and a blanket to shield her from the wind, ensuring her comfort and privacy in such a vulnerable moment.

Demonstrating an incredible sense of duty and kindness, Mr. Wu went further by closing his shop's doors, creating a temporary private space for the new mother as they awaited medical help.

The woman's husband, overwhelmed with gratitude, returned to Wu's supermarket. Following local customs, he adorned the shop's entrance with red cloth and presented Wu with a red envelope, a traditional gesture of thanks and good fortune.
