Heroic Truck Drivers Saves Villager from Water in North China
Quick thinking cargo truck drivers have become heroes after saving one man - Li Yunchang, who fell through the ice from a river in Bazhou City, in north China’s Hebei Province on Wednesday.
Video caught on camera by witnesses shows about ten people holding on to a long rope to drag Li, from the frozen waters.
The accident occurred when curiosity got the best of Li when he said wanted to see people fishing in the frozen river, but suddenly fell into the water.
"Some people were fishing in the river, and I wanted to see them fishing. I got down and walked there. The ice was so thin that I fell in just as I turned. I tried to get hold of the ice, but the ice fell apart. So I screamed for help," said Li.
Li's cry for help was first heard by a passing cargo truck driver Zhang Jinshan, who upon hearing the screams, pulled over. Zhang then immediately took out ropes form his truck and rushed to Li's aid.
Following Zhang's lead, several other cargo truck drivers joined in to rescue Li from the icy waters.
"He [another driver] came over with another rope. We tied the ropes together, and I threw the rope to him [Li]. There were several behind us, so we jointly dragged him out," said Zhang.
