Buy video

This bright iridium flare I caught on Monday morning over the sky's of Ballyshannon, Donegal, Ireland. These Satellite flare, also known as satellite glint, is the phenomenon caused by the reflective surfaces on satellites (such as antennas, SAR or solar panels) reflecting sunlight directly onto the Earth below and appearing as a brief, bright "flare".Just last week NASA launched new satellites in to space to orbit the earth with further more to be send up over the coming months. There aim is to send new Satellites up to improve technology, get better images of earth and outer space along with forecasting better during hurricanes and weather event around the world. The old satellites are been took out of order and with the newer one circling earth it is said that the will not flare nowhere near as good as the old satellites.
