Dramatic high speed police chase catches runaway drugs suspect

Dramatic footage shows a 100mph police chase between a police motorbike and a pick-truck driver high on METH.

Anuwat Boonyeun, 38, took flight after driving erratically on a dual carriageway in Pathumthani, Thailand. Police tried to pull him over but he sped away - sparking a high-speed chase with rookie officer Jakkrit Boonyarin.

Jakkrit’s helmet camera shows the pair reaching speeds of around 100mph as they weave between traffic. The suspect eventually loses control and crashes - sending the truck spinning out of control on its side in a cloud of dust before Jakkrit and a colleague pull their handguns on him.

Police said Boonyeun tested positive for ‘Ice' - a form of methamphetamine - and 0.54g of the drug was found in the vehicle.

Lt.Col Tasakorn Korntong, Deputy Chief of Klongkoi Police station, said: ‘’Police officers from Klongkoi Police Station set up the check point and suspects's vehicle driven very fast.

''They alerted the car which did a u-turn and sped away. The Sergeant ordered new police officer Jakkrit Boonyarin to ride the police motorcycle and follow the Honda.

''The car crashed on the side of the road and the officers arrested the man. They investigated the car and found 0.54g of class A ‘ice’ in a clear plastic bag in the middle of the car.’'

Boonyeun admitted possession o drugs, dangerous driving endangering the safety of others, driving under the influence, using drugs and causing danger to a policeman.
