Noctilucent cloud was seen in Urumqi during China’s land-based mid-course missile interception test yesterday (February 5).

The footage shows thin and crooked bright cloud shining in the night sky.
This natural scene happened on condition of much dust brought by a man-made aircraft to the middle layer of the atmosphere.

China's Ministry of National Defense said this test was satisfying, describing it as defensive and not aimed at any country.

This is the 3rd time that China has announced about the test of an anti-missile intercept system. So far only China, USA and Japan carried out the similar interception tests.

Urumqi is located north-west of China, a regular missile testing base due to a high latitude and being scarcely populated.
