Waterproofing your tent

Reviving the waterproof coating on a tent is quick and easy using a product like Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarproo.
The thing I like about Nikwax products is that they are much safer to use than other compounds on the market. According to Nikwax, all the products are environmentally safe, water based and non-toxic. But really the main point is this, the products work.
Replacing the waterproofing on my tent fly was easy using the Tent & Gear Solarproof. First clean the surface. In my case, the tent fly was clean, so I just wiped off the surface with a wet sponge. If it was dirty or dusty it could have been rinsed with clean water from a garden hose or washed with Techwash, then rinsed clean.
Then all I had to do was spray on the waterproofing, wait 2-minutes and then wipe if off with a damp cloth. That’s it, nothing more other than to let the tent dry.
Not only does it add waterproofing to the material, but it also protects against UV light which will degrade synthetic fabrics. So, I stay dry and my gear lasts longer.
I have used Down Wash for my down sleeping bags, Techwash for much of my gear, TX.Direct Wash-In for my waterproof breathable gear to revive the durable water repellent coatings and Waterproofing Wax for Leather. Check out Nikwax at: http://www.nikwax-usa.com
