Strong winds battered tourists at a camping site in northeast Thailand.

Footage shows heavy gusts blowing away the tents at the famous holiday spot in Nakhon Ratchasima province on December 19.

Some of the holidaymakers had to pack up and leave early because of the stormy weather while others chose to stay. Several tents collapsed due to the pounding winds so the campers retreated to a park facility nearby.

Tourist Nattapong Deemai said: ‘It was so cold and the wind blew so strong. It really ruined our trip but it was a memorable one.'

The Thai Meteorological Department advised residents to bundle up in warmer clothing as a cold front from China prevailed over Thailand's northern regions.

The cold front was expected to cause temperature drops of 3 to 6 degrees Celsius and cause strong winds before subsiding.
