It had been a night where the staff at one of the gates to a popular game reserve left the toilets open.

When an animal gets sick just like with humans they want to find a place to feel comfortable to die.

In this case the Lioness was very sick with wounds from fights and was very thin. A Lion needs to eat every week if not they begin to lose condition and by 2 weeks they will usually be very sick and on the brink of death!

Sadly if a Lion male or female cannot keep up with the speed that the Pride moves at he or she will be left behind to not hinder the rest in their quest to find food.

It is all about survival of the fittest.

This old and sick Lioness decided to take advantage of the open toilet door and find her place to go in peace.

She was still alive the next morning and was found by an old lady who was just trying to relieve herself... Well I am sure she did just that but not where she was expecting too!

Help was called and the Lioness sedated before being taken to see if we could help her. Sadly her injuries were to severe and she scummed to them later that day.
