Young kudu antelope escapes the claws of a hungry lioness

Most wildlife films or documentaries show the successful hunting attempts of lions. Little do people know that they actually are not the greatest hunters at all, and have a very low success rate on most attempts. Two or more lions average around 40% and a solitary lion around 2 out of 10 attempts or 20% succes rate. This video shows the classic example of a single lioness, in the middle of the day, boldly making an effort to hunt down what seemed like an easy target, a young injured kudu antelope. Wasting all her energy in 40 degrees celcius heat running up and down chasing this youngster. We were lucky enough to witness this right in front of our camp in the Greater Kruger. After they dissapeared at the end of the video, we managed to go out and track down the lioness 2km's away from camp, some 45mins later. The lioness was found sniffing around an area but no sign of the young kudu. Lioness eventually gave up and fell over for a nap in the shade. What happened to the young injured kudu? Who knows, never saw her again.
