A set from hit TV series "Game of Thrones" in northern Spain has been transformed into a plastic dump, sparking outrage among the public.

Footage filmed by surfer Oier Bartolome shows tonnes of plastic and rubbish lashing the coast of Zumaia in the Basque Country, a natural protected zone for its geologic singularity.

''Today I remembered the images of divers in India diving into a sea of plastic. Look, that is not coral, that is plastic,'' says Oier in the video.

The video, filmed on October 21, has prompted a public debate about the lack of environmental awareness and the ineffectiveness of the responsible institutions.

Last October 21st in a Unesco protecter area, known as the “Basque Country Flysch”, thousands microplastic and all kind of bigger plastic part show up between the rocks. Plastic polution in the ocean was known in Countries like China and India, but looks like the problem is present also in Europe.
