Kind-hearted villagers saved a man trapped in his car after it fell into an icy river in eastern China.

The video, filmed in Dongying City in Shandong Province on January 20, shows several men walking over the surface of a frozen river to try to approach a car submerged up to its roof.

Then they force open the car door and pull the driver out of the vehicle.

Since Mr. Sun, the driver, was not familiar with the road and drove to what he thought was a bridge, and couldn't stop in time when he realised his mistake and rushed his car into the river.

Thanks to a nearby villager, Gang Yanming, who saw the incident and got help from others nearby, Sun was rescued successfully after around 20 minutes.
