Annual Polar Bear Dip 2
Fifth annual Crystal Beach Business Improvement Area Polar Bear Dip and Chili Challenge at the Bertie Boat Club in Fort Erie, Canada.
A few dozen hardy men and women ran into the 0 Celsius (32 Fahrenheit) waters of Lake Erie, while a snow squall brought winds which dropped air temperatures down to -17 Celsius (1 Fahrenheit).
The event raises funds for the Business Improvement Area, and collects non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army.
Fort Erie Fire Department firefighters and members of the Fort Erie Underwater Recovery Unit were on hand to ensure the safety of those taking part in the polar bear dip
