A duckling that survived after all its family were killed on the road was rescued and is now being raised by a broody chicken.

Nick Gates, 30, watched helplessly as the tiny duckling's mother and seven siblings died trying to cross a busy carriageway in Bristol.

The orphaned duckling managed to swerve between the wheels of oncoming traffic and make it back to the grassy verge at the edge of the road.

Footage shows the tiny duckling and the chicken standing on Gate's right shoulder on July 3 as the wildlife enthusiast talks about how he found the little bird.
