A purple chick terrified its brothers and sisters with its unusual appearance.

Footage shows the baby chicken with dyed feathers wandering around the cage while the scared flock of ducklings would scamper away to keep their distance.

The chick would try to go near them but the yellow birds looked afraid and cowered in one corner of the enclosure in Bulacan province, the Philippines on March 30.

Onlooker Tricia Cassandra Balmadrid said: 'This was like a metaphor for life. It was sad, because sometimes people run away from those who are different, too.

'I think the dyed chick was a prize from a local fair and was brought home to take care of. I don't know why the ducklings were afraid of it.'
