Hong Kong airport chaos as all departing flights are cancelled amidst mob protests
Footage from last Friday (09/08) shows the chaos inside Hong Kong International Airport where all departing flights were today cancelled.
The video is from the first day that protesters descended on the busy airport waving placards criticising police violence.
Airport officials said in a statement today that passengers should avoid travelling to the building.
They added: "Other than the departure flights that have completed the check-in process and the arrival flights that are already heading to Hong Kong, all other flights have been cancelled for the rest of today.''
Police said there were around 5,000 protesters in the airport today calling for an end to Chinese interference in the country.
The airport authority said flights are due to resume on Tuesday at 6am local time.
