The phenomenon of revenge between neighborhoods in Douala has returned. Friday and Saturday has seen youths from several communities fighting each other with machetes. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd in New Bell, as youths from New Bell, Ngonsoa and Bepanda.

Calm is yet to fully return to Nkoulouloun, Camp Yabassi, and Quartier Haussa neighborhoods in the Douala II subdivision. Armed young men today created panic in the area causing people to run for safety while traders locked up their shops. Security sources say the guys were mainly from New Bell Haussa. Local sources say the armed young men were on a mission to revenge a previous attack on one of their friends.

Several persons were wounded in the process which continued on Saturday. This is coming barely days after youths in Sangmelima in the South region, burn down properties of nonindigenous people doing business in the area.
