This is the horrifying moment a tree snake was seen dangling from a wall while the strangling the life out of a lizard.

Cyclist Thongchai Sifah, 35, was resting at a pavilion next to a reservoir in Ubon Ratchathani, north eastern Thailand when he heard a gecko squealing for help.

He followed the sound to a brick pillar inside the building where he noticed the golden tree snake coiled around the blue and orange tokay gecko.

Footage from last Monday (25/11) afternoon shows the small tree snake getting the better of the gecko, which could only remain still and succumb to the will of nature.

Thongchai said that his friend pleaded with him to help the gecko - but he refused.

He said: ''The poor gecko was being strangled so tightly that my friend thought I should help it.

"However, I refused to do so because I believed I should not intervene in the natural order of things. So I let him die."

Thongchai said he left the snake in peace because he didn't want it to be too frightened and agitated to eat its victim.

He added: ''The snake should be allowed to have its meal so we left without disturbing it any more.''
