A pregnant cat has been rescued after spending three days trapped in a tree in Thailand.

The soon-to-be mother cat named Krati scrambled up the 33ft tree to flee from a stray dog that chased her outside her home in Ang Thong.

Her owner Kao, 54, initially thought she would return home on her own, but when she failed to descend after two days, he called a local animal rescue team for help.

Footage shows animal rescue expert Ratha Tapianthong using a stepladder to reach the stranded feline, hidden among the leafy branches, on August 3. She scooped up the exhausted cat, which was returned to her grateful owner.

Kao said: 'I was confident Krati would be able to climb back down. When I saw she was still there on the tree after two days, I grew worried, so I called the rescue team for help.'
