Residents of West Sumatra Indonesia perform Kusuf prayers or eclipse prayers, when a ring solar eclipse is seen in their area.
One of the locations for eclipse prayers is the Grand Mosque of West Sumatra. There hundreds of people performed the circumcision in congregation, after the noon prayer, or after the peak of the solar eclipse was seen in the area.
Kusuf Prayer is performed two rak'ahs, with four bowing. This prayer is the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, when a solar eclipse occurs.

West Sumatra itself is one area in Indonesia which is crossed by a ring solar eclipse.

Although the eclipse is not seen totally, but according to the Meteorology and Climatology Agency (BMKG), ring solar eclipse in West Sumatra reaches 90 to 95 percent.

The solar eclipse in West Sumatra itself began to appear for 3 hours 49 minutes, which began at 10.16 WIB and ended at 14:11 WIB, with the peak of the eclipse occurring at 12:11 WIB.
In addition to Padang City, solar eclipses can also be seen by residents in 18 other cities in West Sumatra with varying magnitudes. While a total ring solar eclipse can be seen at seven points in Indonesia.
Observation of ring solar eclipse is also used by residents to see this rare natural phenomenon, with equipment prepared by BMKG.
