Greenwich Council has taken action after antisemitic graffiti was daubed on a southeast London branch of Barclays bank.

The graffiti on the Westcombe Park branch depicted the word "Jews", stars of David, and white supremacist imagery.

Graffiti was daubed on windows, walls, and the door of the bank. It is no longer visible, but the windows which were vandalised have been painted over by Greenwich Council.

Antisemitic graffiti also appeared on a nearby takeaway, which appears to have also been removed since.

Local MP Matthew Pennycook wrote on Twitter he was "absolutely sickened" by the graffiti. The Board of Deputies of British Jews has thanked Greenwich Council for its "quick action".

The vandalism comes just hours before Holocaust Memorial Day tomorrow (Monday, January 27).

Metropolitan Police are investigating.
