A group of 2,126 people came together to display the culture, art, and valour of the Hindu warrior group of Rajput and attempt to set a new Guinness World Record on Tuesday

Indian Women dressed in traditional colourful dresses, moved gracefully in co-ordinated movements performing ‘talwar raas’ (sword dance), under the flagship of the former royal family of Rajkot in India’s western Gujarat state India

Termed as an “invaluable gift” by the current Thakore Saheb of Rajkot Mandhatasinh Jadeja, a new world Guinness World Record was registered in the city on Tuesday “for the most people dancing with swords”. The 9.49-second sword raas performed by 2,126 girls and boys using real swords broke the previous record, set in June 2018, with 1,080 participants, and was held as part of the ongoing four-day royal coronation of the head of the erstwhile princely state.
Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the dance performed under the brilliant winter sun at the drive-in cinema ground enthralled the audience with their energetic performance and some breathtaking hand movements.
Jack Brockbank, the adjudicator and representative from Guinness World Records UK, officially announced the new Guinness record. The royal family of the erstwhile princely state remained at the event.

The art of sword dance dates back to Mughal-era when Rajput women welcomed their men after they returned victorious from a battle.
