A caring Filipino mother and daughter trawl deserted streets in their city during coronavirus quarantine to look for hungry stray cats to feed.

Footage taken on April 16 shows Jenica Victoria, 29, putting up dog and cat feeding stations around Bulacan, in the Philippines, where they live.

Jenica and her mother walk at least eight kilometres everyday to replenish the homemade stations with food.

Jenica said that since they have a small animal shelter, they received permission from their local government office to go outside and feed strays during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, there are instances when they are stopped and questioned by authorities because of the strict quarantine implementation in the region.

Jenica said: "We have been held several times asking us to explain what we are doing outside during the quarantine and we explain to them what our permits were for.

"It is very fulfilling to see the cats eating. I feel it and we see in their eyes how grateful they are even if they can't talk to us."
