A tall tower in Derbyshire which has been an iconic landmark in the town of Long Eaton for tens of years came down with a bang after a demolition crew set charges along the base of the tower during its demolition. The tower was demolished to make way for 100+ social housing properties on the old site of Wades Springs factory.

A large crowd gathered to witness the operation despite current coronavirus advice to avoid mass gatherings.

The tower was scheduled to be demolished at 09:00 but was delayed for 15 mins due to crowds refusing to move from an area in the danger zone.
