Firefighters rescued 1,955 stranded people in southern China after severe rain and flash floods submerged a village after a nearby dam burst.

In the video, shot in the city of Shangrao in Jiangxi Province on July 9, the village was submerged in deep floods and firefighters took boats to rescue trapped residents.

Another clip shows firefighters piling up bags of sand to block the floodwater.

1,955 stranded people were rescued and more than 5,000 people were evacuated, reports said.

作为第一支深入鄱阳重灾区的救援力量，鄱县消防救援大队抗洪抢险突击队冒着暴雨、逆流而上开展营救，挨家挨户排查搜救，营救被困群众87人，疏散群众378人。

9日10时许，新余市消防救援支队赶到古县渡镇后，与当地政府沟通，分为两组，一组30人，到达向阳圩排除险情，组织管涌填堵。另一组20人，在古北电排堵圩，配合大型挖掘机，快速装填沙袋，集中填堵缺口。

9日20时许，赣州市消防救援支队赶到鄱阳镇桂湖村紧急展开营救行动，在救助一老一小祖孙两人时，瑞金大队大队长胡彦青和消防员王章平用肩膀当作阶梯，平安的救下两人。

目前，鄱阳县共有3个受灾区正在开展救援工作，其中，受灾较重的油墩街镇共有104名指战员、11艘舟艇在场救援；鄱阳镇共有57名指战员、8艘舟艇在场救援；昌洲乡共有55名指战员、12艘舟艇正在救援，截至7月10日11时，出动舟艇630批次，共营救出被困群众1955人，疏散群众5000余人，运送物资37次800余件；另还有306名指战员正在鄱阳县城区集结点休整待命。（视频由江西台提供）
