Man documents journey from childhood to adulthood with collection of international currency
A man born in post-revolution Iran has collected coins and notes from each country he has lived in since escaping the early days of the republic.
Footage from July 28 shows the collection that includes currency from Iran, Turkey, Canda, Malaysia and Thailand amongst others.
The filmer wrote: "I used to collect every bill from the countries I lived in.
"Some of these bills no longer exist or the value is less than a penny, but reminds me of my childhood when they were still in use.
"I was born in Iran in the 80s just after the Revolution. We escaped to Turkey before coming to the USA for a short stay and immigrating to Canada.
"After college, I decided to move to Thailand for a year and had some family in Malaysia.
"The rest of the places were places my wife and I visited together for vacation over the years.
"You know living as an Iranian with a passport that doesn't allow any travelling and no country will accept you gave me this yearning to travel.
"Today as a Canadian the world is open to us but so many people I know don't have the time to travel since everything here is purchased with a loan or some sort of payment plan where if you miss a payment everything you have is taken.
"It's good to have places to escape for a bit and see the world and who knows maybe discover some amazing things along the way.
"I remember Turkey when we were there as refugees from Iran and I also remember Turkey again with my wife a few years ago.
"It's very different the feeling of the unknown and the lack of money as a refugee in comparison to a tourist from a first-world nation travelling comfortably with endless money and no worries of customs or immigration."
