Health workers conducted COVID-19 tests at Melati Traditional Market in Medan, Indonesia after a market worker died of coronavirus.

Footage filmed on September 23 shows the market being disinfected and the workers being tested.

Speaking on camera, the Head of the Center for Public Health, Dr Helena Rugun N Nainggolan said: "We are carrying out tests, because of a new death linked to COVID-19 in the Melati Traditional Market, so we are tracing and testing."

As many as 120 traders and people who carry out activities in the traditional market area, at least five people are declared reactive. For those deemed reactive, further examinations, data collection and monitoring were carried out by the Medan City Health Office.

The Melati Traditional Market in Medan is temporarily closed at the location of selling fish and vegetables, this is because after the traders who died from COVID-19 were vegetable traders.

"So we carry out tracing, because of a new case that died due to Covid-19 in the Melati Traditional Market as traders, so we do Treasing and Testing. Treasing and Testing are not only performing neat tests, they are also screening, because of close contact. This mother is very much, her habit so far is that she rarely wears masks and is active in doing activities in this traditional market. So we do Treasing and Testing, then from the screening it is followed by a Rapit test and if the results of the neat test are non-reactive, we still recommend to follow health protocols by keeping your distance and behaving New Normal.
