Prof. dr H Abdul Rahman Ritonga, Professor of Hadith Subject at the Faculty of Ushuluddin Adab and Da'wah at the Bukittinggi State Islamic Institute (IAIN), died on Monday (1/2/2021).

The deceased was previously treated in the COVID-19 isolation room at the Hospital doctor Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi.

Public Relations of Achmad Mukhtar Hospital, Mursalman Cha, said rapid antigen test showed that the patient was positive for COVID-19.

"He's a professor. His antigen swab was positive," Cha said.

The PCR swab results released tonight (2/2) confirmed that the professor died positive for Covid-19 with symptoms of heart disease and pneumonia.

The body of the deceased was taken to the forensic installation to be washed, wrapped in plastic and put in a coffin.

According to Cha, the medical staff was disappointed with the handling of the body by a family who ignored health protocols to prevent the spread of covid-19.

"Our health workers at the funeral home said the family opened the coffin, took out the body, and washed it again. This is very prone to the spread of Covid-19. Hopefully everything is well," Cha said.
