Snow fell in Colorado on Sunday night (October 25) bringing relief to the two ongoing wildfires ravaging the area.

The northern part of the Cameron Peak fire was blanketed with more than 12 inches of snow while East Troublesome fire was under at least four inches of snow.

Fire officials said the snowfall would cool down the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires that have burned 208,663 and 192,560 acres respectively as of October 25.

The snow will, however, reduce the fire activity only in the short-term and as the temperature rises, the flames will likely increase again.

Officials said that heavy rainfall is needed to completely douse the wildfires.
