Footage shows preparations for a Halloween party on the popular Khaosan Road in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday (October 30).

The area - once packed every day with backpackers - has been deserted for several months while renovations were carried out by workmen.

With the work complete, officials have launched a re-opening party tonight to coincide with Halloween and the country's annual Loy Krathong festival.

The street - popular with backpackers and travellers - closed earlier this year and remained shut due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, officials were busy improving the area, spending large sums on improving the pavements to accommodate street vendors and make the area safer for pedestrians.

The area will now open again to locals and ex-pats living in the country. Officials hope to start welcoming tourists from low-risk countries by the end of this year.
