Several surrounding streets were closed for the demolition. The collapse reportedly produced dust clouds, forcing residents in the area to cover their balconies with plastic.

The Rosslyn Holiday Inn had been on Fort Meyer Drive for 48 years. The ageing building was demolished to clear space for newer developments.
