China unveils prototype of 400 mph super bullet maglev train
China has unveiled the prototype of a super bullet maglev train that can reach speeds of almost 400 mph.
In the video. shot in the city of Chengdu in Sichuan Province on January 13, the model of the world's first super bullet maglev train, which can reach speeds of 385 miles per hour, made its debut at a ceremony.
The prototype was created by scientists at the Southwest Jiaotong University, CRRC Corporation and China Railway Group Limited.
It used high-temperature superconducting (HTS) maglev technology thus the speed is faster. While the shape of its head is longer than a traditional high-speed train, the air resistance is less.
The HTS technology makes the train float without electricity and the carbon fibre material makes it 50 percent lighter than traditional high-speed trains.
The university also launched a 541-foot-long experimental railway track for the prototype to be tested.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
