A violent fight has broken out in Sainsbury’s, Clapham Common today (31 January 2021) between a customer and staff members.

The incident allegedly started at the self-checkout counter after a male customer was “abusive” to staff, according to a female Sainsbury's team member who spoke to Jam Press.

In the footage, filmed at the scene by Jam Press around 4pm today, in Sainsbury's on Clapham High Street, London, the customer can be seen having a heated argument with staff members – which quickly escalates into a fight.

While staff and security detain the man, he can be heard repeatedly shouting "call the police", "you can't handle me like this" and "why are you attacking me".

The four individuals can be seen arguing by the self-checkout of the supermarket, before several team members drag the man to the exit, at which point he stumbles and falls to the ground.

The conversation continues outside, where at one point, the man slaps what appears to be a female Sainsbury's worker, which is followed by several team members and security attacking the man in response.

The male workers jump on top of him, tackle him to the ground and one man even stomps on him with his foot.

A witness at the scene told Jam Press: "He was shouting but I don’t think it’s fair how he is being handled.

“He says hasn’t done anything and isn’t being violent or aggressive, but several security guards tackled him.”

Police arrived at the scene at 16.17pm and removed the man from the premises.

Jam Press has contacted Sainsbury's for comment.
