HS2 tree destruction, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK

Buy video

Having fenced off an area of woodland called the Spinney in Aylesbury earlier this week, last night tree surgeons working for HS2 Ltd were felling trees into the early hours this morning. They were doing this right next to the existing railway with the potential to cause an accident as trains were still passing by next to the felling. HS2 have been able to provide a copy of any wildlife licence from Natural England for would allow felling in this woodland. HS2 contractors can be seen dumping wood chippings onto the woodland floor in the Spinney that are from a nearby hazel coppice that HS2 have destroyed. The High Speed Rail 2 from London to Birmingham puts 693 wildlife sites, 33 SSSIs and 108 ancient woodlands at risk
