Rare Hoopoe bird feeds on forest floor of a mountain in the Philippines

This is the astonishing moment a rare Hoopoe bird was seen feeding on the forest floor of a mountain in the Philippines.

Nature photographer Greggy Enriquez filmed the migrant bird from a distance in Rizal province.

Greggy said that he was curious about the strange feathered animal and did not know that it was rare until he went closer.

He said: ‘I started doing these photography walks during the pandemic, to calm my mind. I was so lucky to have found one.’

Hoopoes are known for the distinctive feathers in the head that resemble a crown that spreads like a fan when threatened.

They are also the national bird of Israel, believed to be is listed in the Old Testament as unclean and forbidden food for Jews.
