At least seven die in Indonesia when 'overloaded' tourist boat capsizes on reservoir
Footage shows the aftermath of a boat disaster in Indonesia caused when 20 tourists rushed to one side to take selfies causing it to capsize on May 16.
Police said the accident happened when the vessel was overloaded on the Kedung Ombo Reservoir in the Kemusu, Boyolali regency, on Java island.
Eleven passengers were pulled alive from the water but seven were found dead. Rescuers are looking for two people who are still missing.
Central Java police chief Ahmad Lutfi said: ‘The cause of the accident was the overload of passengers. The 20 people took a selfie on the right side then the boat lost balance and flipped.’
