UK music teacher sets new world record after passing nine different music instrument exams on the same day
A music teacher has created a new world record after taking and passing nine music exams on nine different instruments – all on the same day.
Estelle Jackson officially set the impressive global first which included Grade 6 Bassoon, Grade 7 Piano and Grade 8 Soprano Saxophone.
After sitting the music exams on Friday at Queens College, Taunton, the talented teacher was thrilled to learn she had passed every single one of them.
Her marathon effort helped to raise just over £1,300 for the Sidney Lawton Music Trust, which helps students at Queen’s develop their musical talent, and the Stand Against Violence charity.
Estelle, who teaches music at the college, said: "These results are beyond my wildest dreams, and I'm so grateful to my family, friends and colleagues for their unstinting support.
"I'm perhaps proudest of my Grade 7 Piano pass - I'm not a natural pianist and had to work extremely hard for every mark I was awarded."
Estelle sat the following exams: Initial Grade Trumpet, Grade 1 Classical Guitar, Grade 2 Trombone, Grade 3 Cello, Grade 4 Xylophone, Grade 5 Singing. Grade 6 Bassoon, Grade 7 Piano and Grade 8 Soprano Saxophone.
As well as passing every single exam, Estelle was also awarded a Distinction for her singing and her performances on the trumpet, trombone, cello and xylophone.
She also received a Merit for her playing on the saxophone, bassoon and guitar.
