Music teacher uses glasses filled with water to give awesome school lessons
A music teacher uses glasses filled with water as instruments to give awesome school lessons.
Elmar Domingo, 23, devised the creative ways to teach his students music remotely when the school shifted to online classes due to the pandemic last year.
The young teacher said most of the children from their village did not have their own musical instruments so he thought of using everyday objects to make each lesson inclusive.
He said: ‘I use glasses and other everyday objects that could easily be found around the house. Unlike when we were in school, they could appreciate the instruments and its sounds. I allow them to share and pass it around but it's different in online class.'
Teacher Elmar added that one of the challenges was getting the students' attention.
He said: ‘When I teach them what a note is, I easily lose their attention. One of the challenges was to make them interested. With this set up, I was able to make every lesson more fun and they could join in.'
He recorded his music sessions on video and upload them on his personal TikTok account afterwards, where he gained fans and followers for his creativity and unique talents.
Now that the school in the Philippines are starting to shift back to traditional face to face classes, teacher Elmar said he will continue making the fun videos.
He said: ‘I enjoyed making them so I will continue. The students enjoy them and learn, so that's the main thing.'
