A TikTokker has shared the location of a "hidden village" in Britain that perfectly resembles the Italian Riviera – and TIkTok users are blown away by the secret spot.

Meera Pankhania, 25, from London visited Portmeirion village with her boyfriend on 7 July 2021.

Nestled on a peninsula in north Wales, the stunning area has been designed to emulate the Italian Riviera – and it certainly comes close.

Portmeirion was built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, who was inspired by the bright colours and architecture of the Italian Riviera.

Endangered buildings and unwanted artefacts from all over the globe were even transported into the village and rebuilt to create loggias, grand porticoes and tiny terracotta-roofed houses, painted in bright colours.

Sharing a video of the spot online with her 808 followers, Meera asked: "Did you know there is a hidden village in the UK that looks like Italy?"

Her video shows vibrant Italian-style buildings and beautiful beach views as well as a Mediterranean piazza, which is the village's central feature.

In another video, Meera responded to another TikToker who said they'd been to the village too but had found it "boring."

Meera shared further stunning images from her trip to show just how beautiful the village is.

"My boyfriend and I were meant to go to Portugal that weekend but as it went on Amber list, we visited here as an alternative and then climbed Mount Snowdon," told Meera Jam Press.

"We stayed there for two days and while I’ve never visited Italy myself, I felt like I was in Lake Como.

"To arrive at the place, you travel through some beautiful roads and beautiful scenery.

"When you arrive parking is free, tickets should be pre-booked and cost £14 per adult for entry to the village.

"Once you arrive you almost instantly feel like you are in Italy.

"The views were amazing of a beautiful lake that the village overlooked.

"When you’re within the village you are free to wander around. They have a few shops there, cafes, bars, and restaurants as well as an on-site hotel which I didn’t actually stay at."

Meera notes that the village has managed to stay largely "hidden" as not many people outside of Wales know about it.

She added: "Most people located out of the area haven’t heard of it, as well as a few people who actually live in Wales."
