In this video filmed on Saturday 17 July 2021, we can see long queues of families, often with young children, waiting to check in on a two British Airway flights organized towards the United Kingdom. The "leave outside the rules" facility was announced by the British government as a facility for BNO visa holders (people born before the return of Hong Kong to China) to avail of the possibility of obtaining visa upon arrival, and a path for acquisition of citizenship within six years.

This option offered a path to leave the beleaguered territory, where the National Security Law implemented in July 2020 will soon be taught at school, starting from kindergarten. The law, said by the Government to be applicable to a very limited number of persons has become pervasive in its reach into all the facets of Hong Kong life, prompting some to leave for better heavens. Many families with children were seen leaving. Part of the explanation resides in the fears on the upcoming changes in the education system under the National Security Law, but also the possibility of accessing quality education in the UK at a much lower cost than in Hong Kong, where quality education is expensive and admission to reputed schools or international schools highly competitive.
